Dark Carnival Details Revealed, Meet the Jockey

At , new details about have emerged in the latest reveal of the chapter. The most important one is the announcement of a new special infected, the . The lives up to his name, hopping onto the back of a survivor and steering him whereever he wants. The player loses control during this moment, and yes, this could go horribly wrong for survivors. We’re unsure how to eject the (shooting him off seems a bit dangerous) at this time.

For more details on the Dark Carnival campaign, the campaign is subtitled “You must be this tall… TO DIE!” and it has survivors starting on a highway, headed to the Ferris wheel. After working through a two-story motel, you get to the carnival and face off against a new : the zombie clown. This infected calls other infected over to him, so talk about annoying. If this one gets close, expect lots of mobs!

According to reports, some of the carnival parlor games are playable, and the final crescendo moment revolves around the merry-go-round. All in all, it’s sounding wonderfully delicious.

I do wonder though, if death squads will be a lot easier to spawn. Between the Charger, Hunter, Smoker and Jockey, sounds like there are a lot of ways survivors can be “held” against their will, effectively ending a game. We’ll see when Left 4 Dead 2 finally arrives.

Bulletproof Infected Coming to Left 4 Dead 2

Spitters, chargers, fire-resistant infected, and now this? Bulletproof infected?!! Reallyyyy??? I guess this is to help increase the need for the newly added melee weapons, but fans can expect to encounter bulletproof infected on their way to the safe room. Riot police in full bullet-resistant gear are out there, and these kevlar wearing bastards want you dead. The good news? You can shoot them in the back to take them down, but man, L4D2 is gonna be TOUGH!

Left 4 Dead 2 Preview: Swamp Fever

GameSpy recently got a tour of duty of the new campaign: . New infected such as the , a creature that spits on survivors like a mortar to help break up stacking survivors, and “common-uncommons” that are level specific monsters like the Hazmat zombies on the Parish levels, which in this case are “mud men” which are crawling, faster zombies in the swamp boards. Also revealed are new items, which sound to be an ammo pack which can fill the medkit slot (why you’d ever do this is beyond me) and adrenaline pills which let you melee faster and more often. You also can run past zombies when juiced up.

The game sounds so wicked, and I can’t wait to play more on Comic Con this week.
