Latest L4D Patch Adds Falcon Novint Support

September 3rd, 2009

Now everyone can enjoy the Left 4 Dead experience using the Novint Falcon which allows players to feel realistic weapon recoil, enemy attacks, and interactions with the environment, including a variety of specialized forces. With the Novint Pistol Grip accessory the First Person Shooter gaming experience gets even more immersive.

“As both the reviews and the sales figures show, Valve’s Left 4 Dead has been an absolute hit, and it is one of our strongest Falcon supported titles to date,” said Novint CEO Tom Anderson. “The Falcon makes the experience of being attacked by Zombies ultra-realistic, and it has been our most popular title with our early testers. We’re very excited to add Left 4 Dead to our ever-expanding list of Falcon-compatible titles.”

Valve Responds to Left 4 Dead 2 Racism Claim

Take a swing with a cricket bat in Left 4 Dead 2

This is getting ridiculous. Via the ironicly titled blog “Game Hacks”, the Houston Chronicle took aim at Left 4 Dead 2, calling it racist. Now Valve’s writer Chet Faliszek fired back!

“Utter insanity. “There are mixed races of zombies, there are all different races of zombies that you shoot, and since we placed it in New Orleans, that makes it racist? I honestly re-read the paragraph about five times … but when two of the characters in your game are African-American, it’s a weird thing to be accused of. We’re like, ‘how does this work’?

“… As far as Katrina goes, if you go down to New Orleans, Katrina’s still going on. I mean, it’s messed up, it is crazy that the city is still in the state it’s in, and we treat that with the utmost respect. Our CEDA thing is not some subversive commentary on anything. This is a videogame, those are real people’s lives, we are not trying to make a statement with that … It’s a place we love, it’s dear to our hearts. We would not cheapen it. It’s not a brick-for-brick representation of New Orleans; it’s a fictional version, and I love that city.”

Unreal that this is an issue. Obama should call this guy stupid!

Left 4 Dead: Crash Course

Valve announced today that a new Left 4 Dead downloadable content campaign, Crash Course, would be coming to Xbox 360 and PC this September. PC owners will get it free, but Xbox 360 players will need to pay $7 (560 Microsoft Points) for the campaign. Within the campaign, players can expect “new locations, new dialogue from the original cast, and an explosive finale.” Valve also stated that Crash Course is meant to bridge the gap between “No Mercy” and “Death Toll” storywise, and includes new Survival maps.

Left 4 Dead 2: The Spitter Revealed

August 2nd, 2009

In showing off the new Swamp Fever campaign in Left 4 Dead 2, Valve also announced the new Special Infected: The Spitter. This creepy looking girl looks pregnant, so freaky! She spits a glob of goo on the ground that burns anyone standing in it for damage, preventing players from stacking up. Can’t wait to see her in action by the elevator during No Mercy level 3. Here’s a pic:

In a funny twist of events, one of the guys leading the Left 4 Dead 2 boycott, came up with some of the ideas around this Special Infected back in May. Of course, someone else thought about it too back in November of 2008. Draw your own conclusions!

Praise the lord - Swamp Fever from Left 4 Dead 2

Valve announced that San Diego Comic Con attendees will be able to play the new Left 4 Dead 2 campaign, Swamp Fever, for those willing to head over to the Hilton San Diego Gaslamp Quarter Hotel. Anytime between 2-9pm on Thursday through Saturday, 12-5pm on Sunday. It’s better than waiting in line.

There should be a lot more revealed at this event, including more of the 20-plus new items to be included in the sequel. Very exciting stuff, but I want to know more about the new Special Infected, and compatibility between Left 4 Dead 1 and Left 4 Dead 2. More to come as we will be at San Diego Comic Con and absolutely checking out Left 4 Dead 2!
